Foot Chase Yields Numerous Charges

Multiple charges were placed against two young Lawrenceburg men found to be illegally consuming alcohol in a parking lot on North Locust Avenue over the weekend.

Around 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Lawrenceburg Police Officers report noticing suspicious activity while patrolling the parking lot at the old KMart building, 1604 North Locust Avenue.

A vehicle parked in an area posted “No Loitering” was occupied by three people. When they pulled alongside to ask them to leave, officers report that one young man exited the front passenger door. The officer reports he could clearly see two open beer bottles inside the vehicle at that point.

As he exited his patrol unit, the officer stated the man turned and fled on foot. Although he was ordered to stop several times, the man continued in his flight. Other units then arrived on the scene to assist.

At the vehicle, the officer reports finding a female and male subject inside the vehicle, along with two open beers, a number of unopened beers, a .243 New England firearm with a band of ammunition, and a large knife.

The fleeing man was located a short distance away, but once again fled from officers. After a lengthy foot chase, officers were able to apprehend him. They indicate that while he was being placed under arrest, he continued to offer physical resistance.

Officers quickly learned that the man had an outstanding warrant in Morgan County, Alabama. He then allegedly admitted he had run because he knew there was a warrant for his arrest.

Reports indicate that the female subject had not been consuming alcohol. No charges were placed against her.

Timothy Lester Robertson, 18, of 1017 First Avenue, Lawrenceburg, and Casey Adam Trapp, 20, of 431 Fifth Street, were both placed under arrest on charges that include public intoxication, underage consumption of an alcoholic beverage, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Trapp was additionally charged with the crimes of evading arrest, resisting arrest, and being a fugitive of justice.

Both are scheduled to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on July 5.
